The Self-Driving Coalition for Safer Streets will work collaboratively with lawmakers, regulators, and the public to accomplish the following:
- Foster policies that advance technological innovations related to self-driving vehicles in order to realize their full potential and safety; and
- Work with non-commercial stakeholders to realize the broader societal potential of self-driving vehicles and accelerate their adoption.
State and local governments have an important role in fostering the rapid and safe development of this technology by managing driver licensing, vehicle registration, determining vehicle servicing requirements, and compiling crash data. The Coalition believes states should continue to play leading roles in all of these areas with respect to fully self-driving vehicles.
State and local policymakers: If you are thinking about taking action in your area to develop policies for self-driving cars, we'd like to hear from you. Please take a moment to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know how we can help.
